November 2025 Shirlington Dog Park Newsletter

1. Two new benches are now in the area of the park nearest to the Walter Reed Dr. entrance. They were purchased with funds from a very generous donation to the dog park by a trust fund established by Dottie and Hy Dickman to support education and animal welfare programs.  Also, a special thanks is given to Mike Greiner for his help in assembling the benches.

2. As daylight saving time comes to an end, please note that Shirlington Dog Park closes at sunset every day, which will be at 4:45 PM by the end of the month. Everyone and their dogs MUST be out of the park by then. Trespassers will be fined. See the link on our site for a list of dog parks that are open later: https://shirlingtondogs.org/resources

3. Picking up the dog poop is totally the responsibility of park users who are required to pay attention to and keep their dogs in sight at all times. This means putting your phone away while in the dog park. It is critical for the health and safety of everyone and to keep the dog park open for all dog poop be picked up and disposed of properly in one of the trash bins.

4. The next Low-Cost Rabies and Microchip Clinic will be held on Dec 6 at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. All dogs entering the dog park must have current license and rabies vaccination tags. You need to register in advance: https://www.awla.org/events/clinics/
