1. I have met with Arlington County Board member JD Spain, Sr. several times to discuss ongoing issues at the dog park, including encroachment, stormwater runoff and improper usage of the dog park, and he has been very receptive in helping to get these issues resolved. Unfortunately, it appears the county manager and some other board members still do not appreciate the importance of Shirlington Dog Park to the community and the vital role it plays for so many people. More news to come after meetings with all the stakeholders.
2. If you notice any improper behavior or other problems at the dog park, please make a note and report these to the county's Report a Problem site: arlingtonva.qscend.com/311/request/add or to the Park Rangers at 703-228-7037 providing as much detail as possible.
3. Shirlington Dog Park closes at sunset every day, which is around 4:45 PM. Everyone and their dogs MUST be out of the park by then. Trespassers will be fined. See the link on our site for a list of dog parks that have lights and are open later: shirlingtondogs.org/resources
4. Picking up the dog poop and disposing it properly in one of the trash bins is totally the responsibility of park users who are required to pay attention to and keep their dogs in sight at all times. This means putting your phone away while in the dog park.
5. Shirlington Dogs II has a new corporate sponsor, Dogs by Dancer dog trainer: www.dogsbydancer.com Welcome.
Have a Happy and Safe Holiday and New Year
