October 2023 Newsletter

1. Please note that Shirlington Dog Park closes at sunset every day.  Everyone and their dogs MUST be out of the park by then. Trespassers will be fined. The closest dog parks that have lights and are open later are Ft Bernard on Walter Reed Dr. and Towers Park on S. Scott St.  See the link on our site for a list of dog parks that are open later: https://shirlingtondogs.org/resources

2. Make sure to keep your dogs in sight at all times and to always pick up after them.  If you see a stray poop please make it a habit and pick it up as well to help keep the park clean. The poop you pick up now is one you will not step in later.

3. The next Animal Welfare League of Arlington low-cost pet vaccines and microchips clinic is on Oct 28. Registration is required. For info and to register: www.awla.org/events/clinics/
Your dogs’ rabies and license tags must be securely attached while in the dog park.

4. For those who drive to the dog park, there is additional parking to be found along S. Four Mile Run Dr in front of Jennie Dean Park about a block away.

5. Shirlington Dog Park was again named a winner in the Best Pet Care 2023 October issue of Northern Virginia Magazine. Thanks to our volunteers for all their efforts and to those who help keep the dog park a nice place to visit.
