November 2023 Newsletter

1. Recently someone fell on the stream bank and emergency personnel had to be called. Please note, that as posted, the stream and its banks are NOT part of the dog park and can be dangerous to you and your dogs.

2. We planted two new trees in the park; a crepe myrtle to replace the dead birch near the main entrance and a redbud to replace the weeping cherry that is Daphne’s memorial tree, near the middle entrance. Thanks to Mike Greiner and Carlton Willis who helped to take down the dead trees. Mike has returned to the area and has rejoined our volunteer group.

3. As daylight savings comes to an end, please note that Shirlington Dog Park closes at sunset every day, which will be at 4:45 by the end of the month. Everyone and their dogs MUST be out of the park by then. Trespassers will be fined. See the link on our site for a list of dog parks that are open later: https://shirlingtondogs.org/resources

4. Make sure to keep your dogs in sight at all times and to always pick up after them.

5. A Low-Cost Rabies and Microchip Clinic will be held on Dec 9 at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. All dogs entering the dog park must have current license and rabies vaccination tags. You need to register in advance to participate in the clinic:
