September 2024 Newsletter

1. The new main entrance gates have been installed including a new large welcoming sign overhead. Make sure you check it out. Thanks to the county crew who fabricated and installed everything for all their efforts.

2. Shirlington Dog Park closes at sunset every day. Everyone and their dogs MUST be out of the park by then. Trespassers will be fined. See the link on our site for a list of dog parks that are open later: https://shirlingtondogs.org/resources

3. Please help keep the park clean by making sure everyone picks up after their dogs and has them in sight at all times.

4. The stream and its banks are NOT part of the dog park and, as posted, can be dangerous to you and your dogs. The stream at any time can carry a variety of toxic pollutants as well as harmful debris even when the water looks clean. In addition, the banks on both sides of the stream are very slippery and unstable.

5. James Hunter Dog Park in Clarendon is in need of a new sponsoring group. All Arlington County dog parks are required to have a volunteer sponsoring group. If you are interested with helping in any capacity or would like more information, please contact Lyndell Core of county parks: Lcore@arlingtonva.us or (703) 228-6523
